Who here is experienced at writing your own book or is a publisher, editor, etc.?

If you are can you please help me with my book. I am still writing it. Can anyone give me ideas of what I should do on how to get my book published and which publishing or self-publishing company do you think is the cheapest and the most helpful on helping me get my book published.

Avoid self-publishing! You have to pay to publish & then pay for marketing & publicity. Only a few hundred copies are published so it’s not worth it. There’s a reason they call them vanity presses. If you want to give your book as a present to family & friends go to a printing place & they can do it. They have all kinds of bindings & covers & it would be a lot cheaper.

Concentrate on finishing the book. When it’s done & your @ the FIRST editing stage you can start to look for an agent–one who doesn’t charge. Get copies of Writer’s Market 2009, Guide to Literary Agents 2009 & Jeff Harmon’s book on agents (sorry, I always have a mental block on the complete title). Be sure to read all the articles before rushing into finding the agent or publisher. You’ll also need books on how to write a query letter, cover letter, book proposal, etc. Remember writing is more than a hobby; it’s an industry. You need to know the rules.
