What is the starting salary for a journalist?

I'll be a senior in high coming in September and I plan to go to college and live in New York. I was wondering what treatment the beginning of a journalist is and how to get your work published? For example, if I wanted to clarify in the fashion journalism would I need to take classes in fashion school? How do I get a job in journalism after college? And how can I get an internship?
