missing premises and conclusion (Philosophy)?
ok. so im currently taking a philosophy class and this “missing premises and conclusion thing” is really confusing to me. so can anyone explain if there are any good ways to understand these things?
here is an example of what our work is like, “either i pay jerry off, or he publishes those photos;but if i pay him off, i’ll be broke. So either i will be broke or i will lose my job”.
and we need to find the missing premises or conclusion which will make this argument valid
thanks for helping
Hello!
I think the missing premise/s is that these two options are the example person’s only options. He’s assuming his only available options are those two things, when he could, for instance, make some sort of bargain with ‘Jerry’. There are other possibilities than just paying Jerry or losing his job. I’m not quite sure about what missing premises are, but I think I might have got it.
Hope I helped
