This is an economical way to insert quality commercial printing, marketing a product?
Document will be 1-sided, 23 "x 15 1 / 4" size. Most similar packaging inserts are slightly shiny / glossy. Kinko's is too expensive and the publication of the house seems too unprofessional. Initial quantity is 1000 units. Any ideas from people with packaging / printing experience?
I guess it's a 4-color ad / insert …. use the Internet to find local businesses, then call them and tell them what you want and ask for a quotation each. Then fry them and place telleach that you have found a better price than what they offer. They are accustomed to that – then ask them what can be done to reduce costs they can offer. They will usually give you some kind of help – as if you can reduce the size of the poster etc. … Other times they will reduce prices to compete. If you do this for a reasonably well-known company in your area, try to contact the owner of a small graphic design / printing company and see if you can make a deal – a lower price in exchange advertising in their name your organization in one way or another. You can get a better deal if they think you'll have many orders in the future.

This Business of Publishing $9.99 THIS BUSINESS OF PUBLISHING has been hailed by literary agent Michael Larsen as "must reading for writers, agents and anyone else who cares about the future of publishing." It reveals the unique perspective of Richard Curtis, former president of the Association of Authors' Representatives. He provides the aspiring author with the benefit of over thirty years of lessons learned in the publishing industry, including: the damage caused to the publishing industry by the archaic practice of selling books on consignment; the changing nature of the wholesale business, and how it affects authors, editors and agents; the way that large corporate mergers of publishing companies have brought about the disenfranchisement of authors and editors; the electronic media revolution and the opportunities it offers, as well as the pitfalls. Curtis talks about the "blockbuster mentality" that currently dominates publisher thinking, leading to increased dependence on a few overpaid authors with big-name market status. This is an engaging and thoroughly readable guidebook to one of the most rapidly changing industries in America. It is an essential reference work for anyone hoping to understand or function in the publishing world. |

Printing and Publishing in Italy $195 How to Strategically Evaluate Italy. Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Italy is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to printing and publishing are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. Planners must therefore augment this report with their own company-specific factors that might change the priorities (e.g. a Canadian firm may have higher accessibility in Canada than a German firm). Latent Demand and Accessibility in Italy. This report provides a detailed overview of factors driving latent demand and accessibility for printing and publishing in Italy. Latent demand is largely driven by economic fundamentals specific to printing and publishing. This topic is discussed in Chapter 2 using work carried out in Italy on behalf of American firms and authored by the United States government (typically commercial attachés or similar persons in local offices of the U.S. Department of State). I have included a number of edits to clarify the provided information. Latent demand only represents half of the picture. Chapter 2 also deals with micro-accessibility for printing and publishing in Italy. I use the term “micro” since the discussion is focused specifically on printing and publishing. Chapter 3 is a stand-alone report covering a proxy trade indicator that I have authored. Often, the amount of trade flowing into and out of a country is a strong indicator of trading partners, trade openness, and related latent demand. Chapter 3 is purely statistical in nature and covers printed books, pamphlets, maps, and globes excluding advertising material. Although international trade for prin |

The Impact of Electronic Publishing $123 The title aims to quantify the future size of the electronic publishing industry, and provides practical data to support investment decisions in information systems for electronic media and serves as an aid to forward planning. The Impact of Electronic Publishing is the new, second edition of the popular 1996 title 'Electronic Publishing and Libraries: Planning for the Impact and Growth to 2003', resulting from the need for accurate, up-to-date information in the face of fast changing technologies. Two improvements in particular make this edition stand out: on the one hand, material is structured according fields significant to electronic publishing, which makes finding the information desired even easier. On the other hand, the larger format of this edition allows it to present the detailed diagrams more clearly. Further, all sources of the original book are revised and updated. |
