How hard is it to find a job in publishing?
I'm an undergraduate English major / Journalism minor and I desperately want working as assistant editor. I prefer to work in a publishing books of fiction (Eg Randomhouse, Penguin Group, or HarperCollins) Do I have a chance? I have 2 internships under my belt and wrote articles for a week newspaper and the other working at a company independent production scripts. I intend to do another internship at a small art magazine, which should give me a boost additional. My university is a decent public school. I moved to New York on his studies and I'm not worried about the salary, I just want mainly to get a job doing something involving books or writing. Thank you for any help or advice!
Find a job on time part in a bookstore, preferably small independent bookstore (no borders), which should put you in touch with authors and others involved in the publishing industry. He worked for a number of my friends. Good luck!
