What is the cost of publishing design, print, market and distribute a paperback?

Looking statistics and information on the costs of producing books for larger publishers: I am interested mainly in "publications trade "(which means for consumers), both fiction and non fiction, although other markets, such as the production of textbooks, could help as well. I also wonder what the costs of big box stores attribute to a book sitting on the shelf. All suggestions where to look?

You may want to check Bowker annual real statistics. It's a great question that really depends on location where the book is sitting on their list. Someone like Stephen King would probably get more marketing than afunds a lesser known, mid-author of the list. Some books have advertising budgets of some $ 75,000 only $ 5,000. For large books of tremendous progress, publishers will be plunged hundreds of thousands in marketing and advertising to try to ear Back to advance what is extremely difficult to make progress with the books in the millions. Publishers pay Barnes & Noble Bucks so great to put books in areas with heavy traffic. They call this cooperation and not all books have.
