What are my chances of a career as a publisher?

I'm 27, have a degree in illustration and working like children bookseller. I would like to have a role in either editorial or design in children's publishing, but I have no experience pre-publication. My English skills are above average although I'm not an English degree. I have a real love of books. What are my chances of getting paid by a publisher in the United Kingdom?

First, read the Bookseller magazine (or visit its Web site) and apply to every editorial assistant job goes to the publishers children. If it can not do with the results, apply the experience work to some children's publishers that you admire. You may have to do in your holidays, but if you want it so badly that you will exercise. So you're there, get to know that many publishers, illustrators, etc. as possible and dazzle them with your passion, knowledge and enthusiasm. Finally, with any luck, you'll get a junior level.
