Showing the court to petition for name change?

So I filed a petition for name change recently in California (Bay Area). I got a court date for the notice of hearing to explain to people why this petition should not be granted. I was wondering if I need to report for that date since I am not showing any objection to my own name change … Also, if I do not need to appear where can I file a proof of an order published in the newspaper to justify.

You must show the date of the hearing, even if no one files an objection to provide proof of publication and obtain the order certified signed.
